The Kanzaki Somen Cooperative Association is a group of somen noodle manufacturers based in Kanzaki City, Saga Prefecture.

Our purpose is to preserve and promote the tradition and taste of Kanzaki somen.

Kanzaki somen has a long history dating back to the Nara period. At that time, Kanzaki City was known as a land of abundant water and high-quality wheat, and somen production became prosperous.

We are committed to the preservation of this tradition by continuing the manufacturing techniques of somen. We also hold various events and PR activities to let many people know about the deliciousness of somen.

In recent years, somen has become increasingly popular around the world. We are also focusing on exports so that people all over the world can enjoy the deliciousness of Kanzaki somen.

Don't you miss somen as the weather gets hotter and hotter each day? Kanzaki City, blessed with clear streams originating from the Sefuri Mountains, is the third-largest Somen kingdom in Japan. In addition to the strong flavor and aroma of wheat, Kanzaki somen is characterized by its firmness that does not fall apart even when boiled. We have a wide variety of somen noodles that are delicious whether you eat them cold or warm them up to make "Nyumen".

Origin of Kanzaki Somen

"Kanzaki Somen" was born in 1635, approximately 390 years ago. Unsui, who had been on a pilgrimage from Shodoshima, fell ill at Kanzaki-juku on the Nagasaki Highway. It is said that a local peddler took good care of him, and Unsui, who was moved by his devoted care, taught him the secret method of hand-pulling somen.
